Ever watched television shows like DIY SOS and wished you had the know-how or confidence to whip out a drill and put up a shelf? For many, it’s a case of knowing how to get started – and now a Harrogate hardware store is coming to the rescue.
Wrayways, based on Franklin Road, is running a series of ‘Introduction to Power Tools’ workshops to show people how simple it can be to become a bit more DIY-savvy.
The first one will take place on Wednesday, February 22 from 10am to 2pm. Participants will get their hands on a sander, jigsaw, mitre saw and router and, after being shown how to use them properly, will make a bread board with fitted brass handle that they can take home afterwards.
Kevin Davies, owner of Wrayways, said: “There’s a sort of mystique around using power tools – people seem to have a fear of them when really they are quite simple to operate.
“This course is aimed at those who are absolute beginners. We decided to run it in the daytime to fit in with school hours, so parents and those who have to drop-off or collect children can still join us.”
Places cost £50 per person, including VAT, with all materials, tuition and refreshments provided. To book or for more information, contact Wrayways on 01423 560739 or email email@example.com.
