As the cold, dark, nights set in it's time to get dates in your diary for festive fun and this year Harrogate is playing host to one of the best loved magazines in the UK – Country Living Magazine – as they showcase over 200 craftspeople, independent retailers and small businesses from around the region at their inaugural Christmas Fair on 29 November-2 December 2012 at Harrogate International Centre.
From gorgeous gifts, festive food, pampering and party wear, this is a treasure trove of treats from some of the best and most original British companies, many of which are on our doorstep.
Susy Smith, Editor of Country Living Magazine said: “Yorkshire heritage and craftsmanship plays a huge part in country fashion and style and we’re delighted to be able to bring our Christmas event to Yorkshire for the first time. It’s exciting to extend the shows from London, and around the world, and give something back to Yorkshire, where many of our favourite country brands originate from”.
She added: “At the moment there ‘s a real commitment from shoppers to support local crafts and retailers and this is fantastic. Combined with the re-ignited fashion of being truly individual, and the resurgence of vintage style, many shoppers are looking for more unique gifts this Christmas. We love the idea of people's stockings being filled with unique, individual, handmade gifts, or little surprises that have been great new discoveries of new and emerging brands”.
The Fair, which runs from 10am-5pm Thursday to Saturday and 10am – 4pm on the Sunday not only offers a huge array of stalls, but also hosts several workshops and food and lifestyle theatres. Visitors can get creative making Christmas cards and wreaths and decorating gingerbread houses or take on some expert advice from interior design expert Carole Ann Shepherd who will be on hand with tips on home staging, and creating fabulous themed rooms.
To ensure there are culinary delights for all the family, Betty’s Bakery is sharing top tips, along with Phil Leverington from No Reservations and Sciolti Chocolates will be showing visitors how to get the party started with vodka flavoured chocolates.
An additional treat is a special presentation from Rudding Park's very own Stephanie Moon, winner of the Great British Menu, who will be taking guests through how to create the perfect Christmas dinner, followed by wine-tasting from Bluebell Vineyard.
Tickets are available in advance from £10. VIP tickets are also available providing access to the exclusive VIP lounge area with a number of additional benefits.
